Champagne Winner at EHA Meeting

Lucy Newport of Eastbourne Framing Centre was the lucky winner of a bottle of champagne at the recent Eastbourne Hospitality Association meeting held at the Afton Hotel.

EHA members had the opportunity to enter our ‘Monopoly’ competition, whereby they pick 3 property cards at random and then a ‘lucky’ chance card.

Fortunately no-one was found ‘drunk in charge’ but we did have one member ‘sent to jail’ and forfeiting their entire portfolio. The highest value portfolio of the evening was Lucy’s at £970 making her the winner.

Sale of The Chelsea Corner in Eastbourne

GPS-Direct are pleased to announce Chelsea Corner in Grove Road, Eastbourne has new owners. Vanessa and Tony O'Brien took possession of this Bistro Cafe on 12 September. Formerly of the Lemon Tree in Bexhill, they feel they can carry on with their good food and friendly atmosphere in Eastbourne.

Vanessa was born and bred in Eastbourne so has a good knowledge of the town and a great fondness for the people. Tony is originally from London but has lived on the Sussex coast for many years with Vanessa.

Together their aim is to create a meeting place for all to came and enjoy not only the good atmostphere but Vanessa's good old fashioned home cooking with such delights as home made cakes, scrumptious light lunches to your more substantial home cooked food.

Open from 9am for breakfast or morning coffee and biscuits through to lunchtime. Chelsea Corner also has a fabulous refurbished cellar wine bar available for functions such as weddings, birthday's and retirement celebrations.

Sales Complete on West Sussex Care Home and East Sussex Greengrocer

GPS-Direct are pleased to advise that Summerfields Care Home near Chichester in West Sussex has a new owner. Dr Ali Mandegaran took ownership of the home on 5 August 2011, having had his purchase funded by a finance package put together by our colleagues at Chandler & Co.

We wish the previous owners, Sue and Gary McIndoe, all the best in their other business ventures and Dr Mandegaran the best of success with his first care home business.

GPS-Direct Exhibit at This Year's 'Let's Do Business, Eastbourne'

This was the first year that we had exhibited and we were very impressed with the organization both before the day (including the breakfast meeting at the Hydro) and on the day itself. Our stand was ideally positioned to attract visitor attention and as a result we spoke to a number of people during the day, some familiar but many new names.

As GPS-Direct specialize in the sale of commercial properties and businesses and having sold so many hotels in recent years, we had the idea of running a competition based upon the ‘Monopoly’ board game, in which visitors picked 3 property cards at random and then a ‘lucky’ chance card. Those that were unfortunately ‘sent to jail’ forfeited their ‘portfolio’ but for the rest a final value was arrived at, with the highest of the day declared the winner.

Overall we had over 60 entrants, proving to be one of the most popular attractions of the day. Rebecca Middhat (of local design company ‘inlinemedia’ www.inlinemedia.co.uk) had the highest value of the day at £960.

Rebecca was presented with a fabulous wine hamper from our chosen vintner, Hailsham Cellars.

Two Guest Houses Sold in Same Street

St Aubyns Road in Eastbourne has proved to be a popular hotspot for guest house purchases over the past year or so and GPS-Direct are delighted to announce the sale of two more properties in this road.

Boyne House, specialising in guest accommodation for students at the local foreign language schools, has been sold to Martin Clement and Darren Chamberlain, who are new to Eastbourne having sold their estate agency business in Surrey.

Aintree House, a former guest house, has been purchased by Gerald Byworth and his family who are looking to re-establish the business in the future.
